Winter Opera Saint Louis, a non-profit professional opera company providing St. Louis with world-class operatic performances, announces its 2017 Fall Gala. The annual Fall Gala, sponsored by Lu Barnes and Nancy Pillsbury, takes place on September 15th at the Old Warson Country Club and features performances by Andrew Potter, Gina Galati, Lindsey Anderson, and Peter Drackley.
Peter Drackley, tenor: Lauded by Opera News, Peter Drackley’s operatic credits include Rodolfo in La bohème, Gerald in Lakmé, Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress, and Alfredo in La Traviata, a role he partially performed in concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. Mr. Drackley has previously performed with the Utah Festival Opera, the National Cathedral, Teatro Grattacielo, Lyric Opera Baltimore, Venture Opera, and Carnegie Hall. Drackley will debut with Winter Opera in L’elisir d’amore in March 2018.
Lindsey Anderson, mezzo-soprano: Lindsey has performed in opera houses and music festivals throughout the United States, including Seattle Opera, Virginia Opera, Sarasota Opera, Winter Opera St. Louis, Des Moines Metro Opera, Central City Opera, Opera North, and Union Avenue Opera. She received her Masters degree in music from the Cleveland Institute of Music. In 2017, Ms. Anderson will be a featured artist with the New York City Concert Society, and will debut the role of Lucrezia Borgia in the world premiere of Blumenfeld’s Borgia Infami with Winter Opera St. Louis.
Andrew Potter, bass: A singer of increasing demand who towers at an imposing and athletic 6’10”, Andrew Potter is a true bass who has been welcomed by audiences and critics across the country. Andrew has performed roles spanning from Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, to roles such as Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen. The season ahead includes debuts from coast to coast including Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca. Mr. Potter will be performing as Cesare in the world premiere of Blumenfeld’s Borgia Infami and Dulcamara in Winter Opera’s production of L’elisir d’amore.
Gina Galati, soprano: Ms. Galati has performed numerous principal roles such as Rosina in The Barber of Seville, both Musetta and Mimi in La boheme, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Gilda in Rigoletto, and many others. She has performed with Opera Medellin (South America), Wichita Grand Opera, Atlantic Coast Opera Festival, Naples Opera, and Union Avenue Opera. Ms. Galati was recently nominated for “Best Soprano” in the Miami Life Awards for her role of Norina in Don Pasquale for Miami Lyric Opera. She is the recipient of The Historical Society of St. Louis County’s James O’Flynn Community Service Award for founding New Opera Saint Louis, now called Winter Opera St. Louis, where she serves as General Director.
