The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. State Celebration Commission of Missouri has announced the new date for the 33rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Statewide Celebration Kick-Off Program for Missouri that was postponed earlier this month due to inclement weather conditions.
The free statewide celebration program is rescheduled for Friday, February 8, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at Harris-Stowe State University in the Dr. Henry Givens, Jr. Administration Building, Main Auditorium.
The program serves as the official kick-off for activities recognizing and celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Missouri. The format of the program has not changed. The keynote speaker for this year’s program will be The Honorable Maxine Waters, U.S. Congresswoman. This year’s distinguished honorees include Adolphus Pruitt, Dr. Donald M. Suggs and the St. Louis American, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Rev. Earl Nance, Jr., Centene Corporation, and World Wide Technology. This annual celebration will bring together people from all walks of life and will be the first of many events this year to pay tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. King.
