Operation Food Search (OFS), a non-profit hunger relief organization, will host its inaugural kid’s Rap ‘N Pack on Thurs., Sept. 7.  The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at OFS’ headquarters located at 1644 Lotsie Blvd. The cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Children of all ages are invited to help pack food for weekend meals for food insecure kids and their families. Volunteers will enjoy upbeat music, kid-friendly appetizers and beverages made by OFS’ Cooking Matters team, and learn more about the non-profit organization that feeds more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties.

“This is the first time our organization has held a Rap ‘N Pack program solely targeting children as volunteers,” said Operation Food Search executive director Sunny Schaefer.  “This child-friendly event is designed to educate our area’s youth on how they can help their peers who are less fortunate than themselves.”

Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides food and nutrition education. With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food.
