Vintage and modern goods store Future Ancestor closed its Cherokee Street doors earlier this year and is set to opened a new shop in the historic Shaw neighborhood on Saturday, February 24, 2018.

“Cherokee Street has been such a great home for us for our first three years of business, but it was time for us to find a bigger spot,” said owner Julia Leenig of the husband-and-wife duo. “We had been casually looking for a while, but when we drove past this space one day, it just clicked. We are fortunate to be surrounded by such great, welcoming neighbors and other local businesses. We have no doubt it’s the perfect spot for Future Ancestor’s next phase.”

The new shop, located at 4100 Shenandoah Avenue, is nearly twice the size at the Cherokee Street location. The building also has a large upstairs apartment, which the Leenigs have exciting plans for later this year.

“It’s an old building and a little bit rough around the edges, but has so much potential. Like so much of the vintage furniture we find, it will look amazing with a little bit of love and the right styling,” said Julia. “We love being the bridge that connects our clients with the perfect pieces for their home. This larger space will allow us carry a greater selection both in store and online, making even more connections possible.”

Future Ancestor will continue to carry a carefully curated selection of vintage furniture, unique artwork, handmade goods, a selection of health and wellness products and more. While closed for renovations, clients can still shop at future-ancestor.com and by connecting with Future Ancestor on Instagram® and Facebook®.

“We’re really looking forward to connecting with our new neighbors and continuing to build relationships with our old ones. There’s so much in store for Future Ancestor this year, it’s thrilling to be taking this next step.” M
