Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design’s Executive Director Mark Witzling and Board of Directors Chair Vicki Sauter are thrilled to announce a new $600,000 commitment of support from the Windgate Foundation. The award, to be paid over a three year period, is a combination of operating support and challenge grants that will match other contributions to Craft Alliance. This award brings the Windgate Foundation’s total commitment to Craft Alliance to $1.3 million.

Windgate Foundation support, and additional funds raised through the matching challenge, will enhance Craft Alliance’s core operations, including extensive school and community arts outreach programs throughout the St. Louis bi-state region, in-depth classes in craft media (clay, fibers, metals, wood, glass, 3-D printing and digital media), a need-based Scholarship Fund (providing more than 200 scholarships annually), and world-class exhibitions.

“This generous pledge reflects the importance of Craft Alliance in the St. Louis arts ecosystem and Windgate’s commitment to the vitality of craft nationwide,” said Mark Witzling. “We believe students of all ages and backgrounds should have the opportunity to experience the joy of craft.  We are grateful to the Foundation for this support, and look forward to bringing compelling programming to the communities we serve.”
