101 ESPN, the Pride of St. Louis Sports, is pleased to announce some big news for the popular “The Bernie Miklasz Show.” According to 101 ESPN Program Director Chris “Hoss” Neupert, WXOS has signed Bernie Miklasz to a long-term agreement to extend his contract to host “The Bernie Miklasz Show.”

Bernie Miklasz has been a Sports Commentator, Guest Analyst and Show Host on 101 ESPN since (2009). Prior to his full-time status at 101 ESPN, Miklasz was a longtime Sports writer and columnist at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and online at STLtoday.com.

In addition, Belleville native and a lifelong passionate St. Louis sports fan, Michelle Smallmon returns to 101 ESPN and the St. Louis airwaves on “The Bernie Miklasz Show” on Monday, January 29, after more than two years at ESPN’s National Headquarters & Studios in Bristol, Connecticut.

During her time at the ESPN “mothership,” Smallmon began as a producer for the weekday evening radio show called “Jorge & Jen”, broadcast nationally on espnradio.com, the ESPN app, SiriusXM, Apple iTunes, Slacker Radio and TuneIn. When she departed ESPN, Smallmon was producing the successful “Ryen Rusillo Show” on the ESPN radio network — her on-air contributions served to enhance the program’s national popularity. In addition to her work as a show producer and on-air presence, Smallmon earned acclaim for cultivating popular podcasts and video segments for ESPN’s national site.”

“It’s great to have Michelle come home to 101 ESPN. She will be a great addition to ‘The Bernie Miklasz Show’ and we are excited to continue improving our great sports radio station! We are also looking forward to her contributions on 101sports.com,” notes Program Director Chris Neupert.

Prior to her experience at ESPN’s headquarters, Michelle spent four years with 101 ESPN in St. Louis from (2009-2015), where she produced and did some on-air work with Miklasz on the “The Bernie Miklasz Show” and “The Fast Lane” with veteran broadcaster Randy Karraker, former St. Louis Rams player D’Marco Farr and former St. Louis Cardinals Pitcher Brad Thompson. A graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in broadcast journalism, her first job out of college was entry level, as a production assistant with KSDK-TV.

Bernie Miklasz discussed Michelle Smallmon’s return to 101 ESPN, noting, “I gave Michelle her first full-time gig in sports-talk radio. I chose to hire as producer even though there were more experienced candidates under consideration. But I sincerely believe she had a chance to be special, and she was worthy of the chance.” Miklasz continues, “I am so proud of her, watching her develop into a budding star. She is just an exceptional talent and person who will only continue to grow and shine. And she will make my show better in so many ways. It really is the perfect fit.”

As for her feelings regarding the move back to the St. Louis airwaves and return to 101 ESPN, Michelle Smallmon adds, “I’m so thrilled to be reunited with Bernie Miklasz and my 101 ESPN family in this new role. Getting the opportunity to work at ESPN in Bristol was a dream come true, and I’m so grateful for my time there and to all the amazing people I met at the network. But St. Louis is my home, and it feels great to be back in the community that means so much to me.”

Commenting on these announcements for “The Bernie Miklasz Show,” Hubbard St. Louis Radio Vice President John Kijowski notes, “With all of his accomplishments, awards and honors from his on-the-air show hosting and sports writing, we’re thrilled to extend Bernie’s contract with 101 EPSN.”

Kijowski continues, “And we could not be more pleased to welcome Michelle Smallmon back to the 101 ESPN airwaves. She’s proven herself as a sports radio professional on the national level, and we’re excited to have her expertise and skills working with Bernie Miklasz on ‘The Bernie Miklasz Show’ in her new capacity.”
